According to the statutes U.S. federal law; no person shall prosper from; or as a result of the illegal activities of another.
This particular law covers a multitude of crimes; whereas, persons whom were not directly connected to a particular crime per se, have consequently, and or indirectly benefited from the ill-gotten gains of a relative, spouse, associate, colleague or illicit partnership.
However, when we measure the weight of this same law with the gains resulting from the criminal behavior of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade and the benefits derived thereof for people of European descent, with a multitude of unjust and blatantly discriminatory laws which have emphatically shaped the relationship between people of color; more specifically African Americans, and those of European descent; then this law is revealed to be duplicitous at best, and a utter charade at worst.
The benefits derived for people of European descent, which are subsequently a byproduct of colonialism with its historical rhetoric and propaganda are as real today, as it were 100 years ago.
Racism - In today's society

Have we made progress? Of course!
Nevertheless, it is of the essence for those of European descent who wish to repeatedly exclaim that; "I have never owned any slaves, nor am I a racist"; to understand this simple rule.
The current generation of Europeans, (whether in America or the world at large); are the direct beneficiaries of the iniquitous system of pseudo racial superiority and cultural degradation heap upon people of color orchestrated by their forefathers, which still has long lasting ramifications in today's society.
Racism - A History

Now before you decide to plunge headlong into denial, or simply dismiss this perspective as absurd, ask yourself these questions:
A) Was the Trans Atlantic Slave trade a genuine epoch in African and European history; and were Africans duly compensated for their efforts?
B) Is the pseudo psychological philosophy of racial superiority real vis-à-vis nefarious historical legislation and fabricated documentation against people of color?
C) Have people of European descent benefited from the above, whether they have chosen to wholly embrace the past deeds of their forefathers, or not?
Then it becomes evidently clear, that a certain demographic and culture have most certainly benefited from the illegal activities of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade, Jim Crowism, and a host laws designed to suppress one group of people, while at the same time exalting another.

Moreover, to directly or indirectly benefit from these illegal activities on one hand, and not speak out against them on the other, connects that person to those deeds, out of the inherit benefit derived.
Conversely, the only way in which one can truly distance themselves from these reprehensible deeds (past or present); is to first acknowledge these horrendous historical actions; and secondly, take an empathic position against them.
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy". -Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The protracted legacy of racial inequality will not simply evaporate with one group of people exclaiming foul, and another group denying the merits of these claims. It is essential that the history of racism, colonial slavery, and racial inequality is brought to the table; discussed and resolved once and for all.
At the end of the day, confronting this predicament is not about inciting some sort of white guilt, nor is it about sounding the trumpet of some sort of black entitlement; it is about acknowledging the critical importance of addressing America's decadent past toward African Americans.
More importantly, genuinely addressing and redressing this matter will hopefully close the gaping hole on a history, and a problem that has vexed Blacks and Whites for far too long, which has created a bizarre liaison between these two cultures.
A BIZARRE LIAISON

It is incumbent upon every citizen who resides under sovereignty of America, to work diligently toward her racial, social and political betterment, and not seek the cloak of denial as some sort of artificial cover.
