When at one time America was at an all out war against communist regimes, the president and his administration today are in collusion with one of the biggest communist countries in the world. Russia. When at another time in history, Americans fought hard and died to scale back the world's most aggressive form of tyranny, Nazi Germany; today, American citizens proudly display the Nazi flag and symbols of their aggression.
Today, southerners boldly fly the flag of a defeated Confederate ideology of the suppression of another race, and talk against the concept of Democracy and racial diversity. When at one time immigrant refugees were encouraged to come to America as contributors' and builders of a great country, it is now frowned upon and turned backwards favoring laws of deportation and closed borders.
Even among the country's most patriotic citizens, confusion has set in as to whom allegiance is pledged and to what type of governing is needed. Love of country is only shared by half the people. One half of the country has defected from its once democratic beliefs to a more authoritarian style society in which they put their faith in one man to fix the problems of the country while the other half rely on a hierarchy of government agencies of diverse minds to solve issues.
Iron-fist politics have taken the country to a strange, new level of governance laying aside traditional ethics rules and taking on a more strong-arm form of ruling the people. Class and race make up social policy when at one time the melding of class and race was the goal that gives all peoples a right to all things. Now, people are becoming comfortable with the idea of a privileged few taking control at the expense of the many.
Corporate control of public policy has made way for multi-billion dollar companies to move out of the country and build in other countries to make a profit, forgoing the welfare of the American people. American politicians are giving way to corporate demands and allowing the abandonment of American industry, which eventually leaves working families at a lost for jobs. Blind to the under-development of the American economy by corporate America and government policy, the average American citizen lashes out at the new immigrants they have been told are the reason they have no jobs.
No longer is patriotism the engine of American innovation, but identity politics and sectarian nationalism have made its way from the streets of urban and suburban communities and the backwoods of rural America all the way to the White House. Furthermore, mass media exploits the minds and lives of citizens through propaganda and lies that distort the thinking of people to the point the people are protecting ideologies they once fought hard to destroy, communism and tyranny.
