The man shot and killed by Niles police had multiple bullet wounds to his chest, according to a coroner’s finding.
The death of Matthew Burroughs, 35, on Jan. 2 was ruled a homicide Monday by the Trumbull County Coroner’s Office. The autopsy was done by the Cuyahoga County Coroner’s Office, which turned its findings over to Trumbull County.
Burroughs, 53 Royal Mall, Niles, was fatally shot by police while driving to his apartment in the complex off of state Route 46. Police went to the apartment after Burroughs left Niles Municipal Court, where he had been accused by a court employee of hitting him with his car door as he attempted to leave the court.
