The American media has withheld the truth from Americans for over 30 years. Since the beginning of the world and free trade agreements, back in the early eighties, all the money being made by American corporations (who were suppose to share the wealth with its employees through payroll) was siphoned off to either Wall Street, the military, or the company's CEOs.
And the jobs the agreements were supposed to supply in the United States, were not created in the United States but were sent overseas to countries like China, Korea, India, and Mexico, because they could make them work for less. During that time, Americans lost jobs and their pay was stagnant while workers in other countries earned a living wage.
The ironic part is that as all the countries profited from trade, it was only America who overlooked their workers. Other countries understood that it was important to pay their workers if they wanted a peaceful and prosperous society. Over time, they worked on their infrastructure and built a middle class while America's middle class shrunk and wealth inequality grow larger.
A billionaire from China who looks at America from an outside perspective puts it in his own words:
"Alibaba founder Jack Ma thinks America went wrong over the past 30 years by focusing too much on war and Wall Street.
'In the past 30 years, America had 13 wars spending $2 trillion ... no matter how good your strategy is you're supposed to spend money on your own people,' Ma said. 'The money goes to Wall Street. Then what happened? Year 2008 wiped out $19.2 trillion in US income...What if the money was spent on the Midwest of the United States?'
'The other countries steal jobs from you guys - that is your strategy. You did not distribute the money in the proper way." Source
The American media, along with the current president would have Americans believe that other countries stole our jobs than tell the truth, that American companies took the profits and ignored the worker; for over 30 years.
What is sad is that political leaders, along with the news media, refuse to take full responsibility for the economic dilemma of the United States. They mismanaged the money, hoarded it and greedily ran after wealth while the average person struggled. Now, the American people are at the mercy of the same people who robbed from them in the first place; the billionaires and Wall Street.
The United States is the only country in the world who has fought continuous wars, had to rebuild other country's infrastructures instead of working on their own, and who now face a populous who is getting sicker, poorer faster, and who resent their leadership.
