Mainstream media and psychoanalyst constantly refer to Donald Trump as being only the symptom of a greater infection in America that brought about his rise and election. In the beginning of his presidency, people rounded the problem out to the rural areas left behind by mainstream society; then some narrowed it down to the white, middle and working class, and finally they settled on the Fox News crowd.
Well from the mouth of the symptom itself, comes the exposure of the main perpetrators that have poisoned the hearts and minds of America: the two most divisive, racially influential white minds in the country; Hannity and Limbaugh. For years these two have peddled false narratives about minorities, strengthened the arms of the wealthy, and pointed to liberals as a danger to patriotic America. These narratives alone gave rise to a narcissistic country in search of a strong man who will protect their interest.
Along comes Trump who appeals to each and every fear these two have pushed into the minds of paranoid, entitled white men. They demeaned women every chance they got, they talk down against academia and higher universities, and they browbeat the poor and defenseless, all to an audience of millions based on their doctrines of white male politics. Radio stations and televisions tuned in to these men beginning in the early 90s, right after the rise of Reaganomics and around the time corporations began taking control of the economy.
As the rich grew in power so did they grow in wealth and fame. The richer they became the more pompous their attitudes against anyone who they deemed undeserving, unworthy or simply lazy. This doctrine set the ground for a more economically unequal and racist society where powerful white men controlled the narrative and the lives of everyone under them. It gave false hope and power to millions of white men who despite their small earnings and influence boosted their egos from one to 2.0.
Not only have these men poisoned the mindset of the country, making it more self-centered, entitled, and racist, but they also shape the policies that govern today's politicians. Favor is shown to the rich, the upper class and whites to the point that people of color and those living on low wages suffer every evil thing those in power can throw at them. Yes, we now know what has infected the country and brought about the rise of a selfish, racist white man; Hannity and Limbaugh, the voice of the evil white male.
But if we want to look even deeper, the people who keep these men on air and in the public eye would be ultimately responsible for the state of the nation. They are placed there to maintain a specific image of the country; to keep it white, male-ruled, and to reflect on the Orwellian theories of the founding fathers, American capitalism and imperialism, and the power of wealth, the white man, and to keep the racial divide alive. This is, and has been for years, the narrative of the United States.
