Unlike white privilege (the act of gaming the system simply because you are white) Black privilege is the complete opposite and based on the act of earning what you have and being who you are on actual merit.
Aside from the material and physical rewards white privilege affords them, Blacks are able to live life guilt free and with a clean conscious where it pertains to human decency and sincere effort. Of course we are not saints, but if we game the system, it is to satisfy our hunger, not as a sport or a thrill.
We do not have the privilege of generational wealth or property passed down to us that will keep us afloat in society, we actually work for those things. We do not know people in high places that can "put a word in" for that job, university slot, or financial deal. We actually earn those things by good ole fashion merit and hard work.
We cannot write a book and have it published on the New York Times best selling list overnight because our friend works at the NYTs. We have to do what we can (sometimes riot) to get our words out.
We cannot commit a heinous crime and give the secret sign to the judge so he can slap our wrist. We do not know the secret sign. We have to accept the punishment that the laws have deemed acceptable, and sometimes even worse, even if we are innocent. But at least we know we are innocent.
What we call the struggle is the actual game and consequences of living real life. It rains on us all but white folks have a systemic umbrella and black folks have to get wet but when we do, we seem to emerge just a little damp.
Deep down we know we have an inside line to the Creator. We know for a surety that Africa is not going anywhere. We know that no matter how hard they try to eliminate us from earth, using every evil thing they can conjure up, attempted genocide, war, disease, terrorism, laws or imprisonment, or whatever else, we will somehow resurface. Maybe a little bruised, but stronger.
We sleep good at night, they don't. We don't have to name call, they do. We walk longer roads, we face more dangers, we go longer without, and we absorb mental and physical abuse time and time again, yet seem to endure. We have answers to problems they will never solve. And we understand simplicities that they have over complicated.
Basically, we know that if white folks had to endure what we do, they would not survive. Just knowing that is what is called Black privilege.
